We Like to Visit

Waking up to Grandma

Swimming with cousins.
(I even I got in and it felt so good)

The whole reason we came: Derek & Loren's sealing.
Their reception was the weekend prior.
Yay Der Der & Lo Lo!

Justin and his Father's Day Legos.

 Father's Day.
(loved being there w/my dad, too....but our picture didn't turn out)

Bonus to the weekend was meeting new, week-old nephew, Drake.
Such a cute baby.

She cannot wait for her own new brother.

A visit to the new, under-construction Gilbert Temple.
This was neat to see.
I now get everyone's excitement.

This trailer is on site, where we learned more about the temple plans, layout, and purpose.
They all were happy with their pieces of the temple wall.
But especially Owen.
He kept saying sweet things about how good he felt there, wanting to visit every temple,
and wanting to keep the rock with him all the time so he could always feel that good.
And then Drew said in his high, matter-of-fact voice, "Dude, I didn't feel anything!"

Glad my mom chose this as her pre-birthday celebration and that we could make some memories.

Owen cries pretty much every time we head home, but this time even Drew was in tears.
Sally kept saying, "I don't care if it's hot!"
They all wanted to stay.
Counting down to seeing them soon at our reunion.

No More Pencils

Yesterday was FINALLY their last day of school.

Drew got the awesome teacher this year.
We loved Mrs. Cooper.

Owen was fine with his teacher, but she wasn't my favorite.
(Mrs. Roth - no picture)

Their best friends of the year:
Logan, Finn, Yousha, Drew

Owen, Wesley, Gavin

So looking forward to lots of pool and beach days this summer.
Not complaining about a break from schedules and making lunches, either.

Hey Y'all

(picture courtesy Hannah and yes, I cropped myself out)

Hannah, Amanda, and their families (friends from Texas) came to visit this weekend.

We had a fun bonfire Thursday night and a nice, laid-back Saturday.

But the highlight of the weekend was Friday afternoon in San Juan Capistrano.

All pictures are from Zoomars Petting Zoo.
(a pretty small place, but the kids loved it and would've stayed as long as we let them)

This corn play area was awesome. A nice change from sand.

Maybe next time my kids will cooperate for pictures.

Anyway, it was a fun weekend.
Love that we have good friends from just a short 5 months in Texas.

A Tall One

Somehow 5'3" me and 5'8" Justin produced a kid (Sally) in the 75th percentile for height.
Drew is baffled by it, too.

They are 1 day less than 2 years apart and I've been asked more than once if they're twins.
(Drew is 25th percentile)

PS It took an ice cream bribe to get them to pose for pictures.

While in Arizona

We were such wusses in the 99 degree Arizona heat (which isn't even bad for AZ in May, I know).
But still...we were glad that Linus & Sara shared their pool for a little bit.
Sally loved that pool noodle and was happy to spend some time w/Payten.

On a side note, last week my step-grandma MarJean passed away suddenly.
My heart has been hurting for my grandpa ever since.
We were grateful that we could be in AZ for her memorial.
(the picture from her obituary)

(a favorite from our family reunion a couple years ago)

We headed home immediately after the memorial (since our kids are STILL in school).
And now are just counting down to summer break.

A couple things I wish I got pictures of in AZ:

- My dad introducing the kids to dry ice bombs.

-   A bunch of my family sitting around the dining table all on Instagram at the same time.

The Wedding

Brett & Yamina
 5.26.12
Tonto Natural Bridge in Payson, AZ

The day started out windy.

So windy that unless you were in the front couple rows (luckily we were),
you couldn't hear the ceremony.

But the wind died down and they had a fun luncheon/reception.

Loved that the kids got to reunite with some long-lost cousins.

Now the newlyweds are off enjoying their Monterey/North Cal honeymoon.

And we're happy for a new aunt/sister-in-law.

PS Brett is Justin's brother. The 8th of 11 kids in his family to be married.
