Look Who We Found

Justin & I were on a hot date last night. After a not that great dinner at Cafe Fina I needed some dessert at Ghirardelli's. We walked in and found Lara, Preston, & Max getting some hot chocolate on vacation!

We knew them from NC but they moved away before us.

It's just crazy we ran into them out of nowhere, not even knowing they were in town. And then we got to see them again at church today. Made me miss NC...just a little.

Railroad through the Redwoods

Roaring Camp Railroads - 1/19

Up Bear Mountain and back pulled by this steam engine
on the most beautiful day.

Jellyfish

I can't look at jellyfish and not think of SpongeBob.

Coastguard Pier - 1/15, where there were hundreds of jellies

New Boss

photo from Google images

So you might've heard...Justin got a new boss yesterday.

We're hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

One good thing: The White House looked amazing.

We Have a Crawler

Taking her time...coming in at 10 months.
Which I'm totally okay with.

China Beach at Point Lobos

See that little cave down there?
Not the big arch with the water under it, the little cave to the left.

This is us inside that cave:

And this is a sand angel:

"In January it's so nice..."

"...while slipping on the sliding ice to sip hot chicken soup with rice."
Maurice Sendak

If you're looking for a good, quick read I totally recommend this book.

And if you want to eat chicken soup with rice while reading Chicken Soup with Rice then I totally recommend this recipe.

They're Not Chocolate Chips

They're happy pills.

And this is how we breed emotional eaters.

My Two Favorite Things

Dogs and Star Wars.

And by favorite I mean least favorite.

Besides riding dogs,
this is how we spent New Year's Day...
our last day in Arizona:

Drew doesn't like Grandpa's train cause it's too loud.

So Grandma let him use some headphones.
Which he just wore for fun.
Along with his pajama shirt and jeans.

Owen does like the train and is good at driving it.

Followed by some Chinese take-out to celebrate Rachel's Sweet 16
(she was too sick for it on her actual birthday)
and a game of Settlers.

That night...Nate & Bethany's for a barbecue
and some Mexican Train Dominoes
(I like that game and want to play again...now)

Brett, Linus, Sara & Payten left before the picture taking.

Happy New Year!

Thanks Grandpa Martindale for the picture.

Look familiar?

That's cause it's a tradition.

I hope you see this next year, too
cause that means we were with family
blowing up gingerbread houses
and torching trees at midnight.

Among other things...
Cousins Briant, Owen, Max trying to stay awake...
watching a movie on Uncle Cole's papasan.

Gwen stayed home and missed out on the Babies of 2008 picture
(and yes I cropped myself out)
