Animal Style

Just keeping the neighborhood safe.
(not our front yard)

School Halloween Parade

Drew's class - posted by his teacher.

Costume Fitting
Mom made the giant pants out of sheets.

Costume Contest at the Beach

Still debating who won.

Early Trick-or-Treating
Stopped by Sally's teacher's house.

And then our own house so they could trick or treat from my parents.

Trunk or Treat

Late Trick-or-Treating

The Loot
An obscene amount of candy.

Costume Notes:
- Still not sure what Owen was. He wore his black morph suit from last year. Shadow? Ninja?
- Drew was a very blue, Blue Jays player.
- Borrowed Sally's cha cha girl costume from a friend.
- Auggie's In n Out costume was so fun. Bought the giant pin on their site. Apron was a tea towel.
Randomly found the giant hamburger in Target summer clearance.
- Justin has been wanting to be a tall man for years.
Finally got dry wall stilts and his dream came true.

The Surfboard

10/28

The long-awaited surfboard arrived.
Took Owen out the next day for it's inauguration.
He did great getting it down to the beach and giving it a nice wax.
He looked in control starting to paddle out, but from there on it was pretty rough.
Lessons are definitely in order.

A 12-Year Old's Birthday

Woke up to the usual candy bar poster and balloons.

Did not wake up to any presents, however.
(was still waiting for his surfboard to arrive since the one we bought was damaged)

He had a half day at school, so we partied on a Monday.
His friends walked home with him for pizza, pumpkin pie (his request instead of cake),
and the beach.

My parents are the best and drove through the night to be here first thing Owen's birthday morning.
They brought with them this 9 Square in the Air game.

The boys loved it, but after 20-30 minutes, they were back to the ocean.

The party minus Brenden:

The weather was sunny and perfect most of the afternoon, but then super thick fog rolled in.
And I was nervous I was going to lose a kid.

10/26

That night, Justin had school, so my parents took him birthday shopping.

And that handsome kid went to bed with a smile on his face.

Point Sur

10/17

We spent Saturday afternoon (after the zombie race) touring Point Sur Lighthouse.

We did this years ago and totally loved it, so we took Erica to check it out.

For me, it was like the Point Bonita lighthouse - amazing to do once, but once is enough.

Still so pretty, and great weather.

Monday we took Erica to our favorite gyro place, Demetra, for lunch.

She had never had a gyro before and said it was "interesting."

As we were starting to shop for work clothes for Justin (he got a part-time job on Fort Ord),
Auggie decided then would be a good time to wet his pants.
Just when I thought it was safe to take him out diaperless.

So he got some new bright red shorts and spent some quality time admiring them in the mirror.
10/19

Shopping and Auggie don't mix.
Auggie and iPhones do mix.

10/19
Erica took this from their soda run.

We went to see Goosebumps while Justin was in class.
And we all gave it thumbs up.
10/19

Said good-bye to Erica the next morning and went back to just us after 10 days of visitors.
