November 2016 Photo Dump

11.2
When Drew was "American of the Week" in class, everyone wrote him notes.
This one was my favorite.

11.5
Hannah's baptism day.

11.7
Was proud to vote, cause I did my research.
Like the rest of the country, did not love either presidential candidate.

11.8
A visit to the butterfly sanctuary.

11.10
Anniversary flowers from Justin (in our wedding colors).

11.12
Enjoying Sally's last soccer game of the season.

She definitely got a lot more confident.
When I asked her the other day what one thing she would like to be super good at it, she chose soccer.

11.12
Our belated anniversary celebration was going to an improv club owned by one of Justin's teachers.
We got selected from the audience to go on stage.
They re-enacted our meeting/dating/engagement story and it was seriously funny.

11.20
Cub scout hike.

11.26
Kept the Costco Christmas tree tradition alive (Drew was at a friend's hosue).

 11.28
Sally joined the school choir and they performed at the Pacific Grove tree lighting.
Our position in the audience conveniently got us close to the front of the line to meet Santa.

Home for a Holiday

We stayed home for Thanksgiving for the first time in a long time.
Definitely missed family, but not traveling was pretty nice.

I voluntarily took on a lot:
Green Bean Casserole (minus the pimientos)
(based off this recipe; I used dry seasonings instead of a big basil leaf)
Triple Berry Apple Pie (recipe from a friend)
and
Rolls (had to cut corners somewhere)

Sarah was just a few days post surgery, but still hosted and had cute table settings.

The Depenhas joined us and we had ourselves a lovely little feast.
The smartest thing we did was ordered a smoked turkey from Whole Foods.
It was pricey but so worth it.
Best turkey I've ever had.

October 2016 Bonus Material

 10.2
Almost every year general conference weekend is the same weekend as the butterfly parade.
The conflict is a bummer.
But I really felt like we should be watching live conference together as a family,
so we skipped the parade.
Later Sally dressed up in her class beach bum theme and passed out candy in the backyard to kind of make-up for all that she missed.

10.3
Sometimes I look back and he's just watching a show, sipping soda, and wearing dino slippers.

10.8
Cemetery cleanup youth service project.

10.8
What shopping with Justin looks like.

Halloween 2016

Trunk or Treat 10.28

Justin added a wig, sunglasses, and strap-on stereo to his tall-man costume from last year.
This year he called himself, "The Party."
He fascinated and scared at the ward party, Sarah's Halloween party,
and while walking the streets on Halloween night.

Sarah's Party 10.29

Sarah went all out for a Halloween party she hosted for some middle schoolers.

While most of the kids could be found carving pumpkins, Owen and Ryan were bottle flipping.

10.23
The Briens hosted a Halloween party and, for once in our marriage, I was the one who dressed up
(as Eleven from "Stranger Things" and Justin did not.
If you look close you can see my bloody nose.

For the school Halloween parade, we threw together a last-minute upside down man.

Hard to see the details in this picture, but it was pretty funny.

Sally's flapper costume ended up driving her crazy, and she stopped wearing the necklaces, headpiece, and feather boa.

Thanks to Erica hanging out with August, I got to help at Sally's class party.

For Drew's 3rd costume of the season, he went with the classic ghost.
(his first costume (not pictured) was a baseball player for the trunk or treat)
Owen was Iron Juan, inspired by David Lopez vines.
August the Ninja.
And Sally the flapper.

We trick or treated all over PG and kids came home with a haul.

A Vist from Erica

Erica came our way with plans to do the zombie run like last year.
Only thing is, we missed the registration deadline, so that didn't happen.
Sorry Erica!
Hopefully our other offerings were okay:
Wagon Wheel for breakfast.
Hacienda Hay & Feed's hay maze.
Earthbound Farms, which is extra cute in the fall.
Carmel Beach (not pictured).
Roaring Camp Railroads (train ride through redwoods).
A visit to the mystery spot.
And a last minute thrift store trip to find a costume for photos in the forest.

She was also awesome and hung out with the younger kids
while Justin and I were with Owen at a Halloween party.

Love when she comes to visit.
