Scooter Bars: A Birthday to Remember

Drew's 10th birthday was a sad, sad day.
It was on a Sunday, which meant no playing with friends or shopping or going out to eat.
The scooter bars he asked for (and that were his main present) didn't fit.
Justin was sick.
(sick Justin trying to put together ill-fitting scooter parts was not a good combo)
There were tears from Drew.
And tears from me.
It was a heart-breaking morning.

We worked through it as best we could.
I spent all day in the kitchen making his favorite foods:
donuts, grilled cheese, and sweet & sour meatballs.
He loved the "scooter bars" he requested for dessert.
(which are a real thing)

I love Drew and love that he was able to smile most of the day in spite of everything.

Side note: We can't return the birthday bars, since Justin damaged them trying to get them to work,
so Drew wants to display them in his room to remember his birthday.
