Cheesy

What? Not Owen's school picture!

It's the book he brought home from his weekly trip to the library that IS:

I laughed so hard at how bad this book was but Owen was totally into it.

He wants a dog. Well, most of the time he wants a dog. Until I remind him he'd have to pick up the poop. Then he forgets about it for a little while.

But the thing is I don't like pets. Other people's are fine but I would be so happy if we never have one of our own. The puffer fish for Owen's last birthday (that we kept alive 11 days) was enough.

So I tell Owen when he's 8 (you know, the age of accountability) he can get a dog. That's only a little over 3 years away...I need to get a back-up plan in case he really wants to take me up on the offer.

Owen is sooo cute in that picture!! I love it.

I feel the same way about pets as you. Landon has already asked for a dog, and he isn't happy with the answer.

Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog:)

I love the school photo - it's a classic! I'm with you on the pet issue, let me know if you come up with a great excuse.

We have tried a few different pets, none have worked out, now that we live in the country we just adopt the strays that roam around, and the wild animals. It seems to curb the "I want a pet" talk. My advice, move to the country.

He is so cute- I'm with you on pets, but I don't like other people's pets either. Except our cat. But I only like her outside from a distance. I am going to e-mail you a picture of the book Gracie brought home from the library- "Pets ABC" with a goofy dog on the front too. It must be the age...

Errin got her dog when I promised that as soon as the neighbors dog had puppies then we would have one of those...little did I know that the Nelson's got another dog...a male dog and lo and behold their first dog a female suddenly was going to have puppies...so be careful what you promise because Corkey the dog is now 13 years old and she became MY dog

The dogs aren't that bad, yes you have to increase your vaccuming unless you do research and get a no-shedder, but they can earn their keep. Strangers think twice about walking towards me when I have my two, and their bark is enough to make me feel safe when Brian is gone. They're not all bad, but you're right - it's A LOT easier. We're still trying to figure out what to do with our two when we go to NC for two weeks. I definitely understand how you feel, but they do have perks. (Cats are pretty easy, even indoors...)

awwww... he is so cute! i love hearing what your kids have to say... (ie, bring the pee...) you should do another word association, is that how you spell that... but with drew and owen...

The school pic is great. Stacie completely understands the pet thing, as she is going through it right now with Brendon and the others. They (the kids, not Stacie)want a cat and a ward member has kittens to give away.

Love the cheesy picture. Owen has the cutest little voice. We're the same way with the animals. If we ever get one its totally outside. I had two dogs growing up & I really loved them & then they died. My heart was broken. It was the first time I saw my Dad cry, so I think to, I don't want to get attached. Plus now that I'm older I hate the smells & epsecially the HAIR. ACHOO!!

Mistake #1: Telling him he CAN get a dog - 3 years away or not! :) You will definitely need a back up plan. Definitely. I love our family dog, but not really. It's complicated.

Mistake #2: Having the cutest kid ever! I can already see the throng of teeny-boppers after him!

Ok so I totally agree with you on the pet thing. NO THANK YOU! So, my philosophy is to tell me kids that they are illergic and that they will get really itchy and sick if they touch them. Hopefully it works.

Oh my goodness it is so good to hear other mothers agree that they don't care for pets. I always tell people I have four boys...I don't have time for a dog. It is like having another child. If I am going to spend that time...GIVE ME ANOTHER CHILD...not a dog. All my sibs are animal peeps. NOT ME! I did get attached to Ginger's dog Jack though when we house sat for them years ago. Boy is he cuddly. :)

Don't like pets, never will. I want to see yours and Justin's kindergarten pics next to Owen's. I think they'll be just as cheesy.
